Goals The aim is to explain the concept of genre in cinema and to examine the formal and content characteristics of genres that have emerged throughout the history of cinema. The main goal is to provide students with the competence to evaluate the relationship between cinema genres and social structure, and to criticize and discuss examples of genre films.
Course Content This course examines the genre structure in Hollywood, world and Turkish cinema, the artistic and commercial dimensions of genre films, their relationship with social, economic and cultural structures, and evaluates the characteristics of film genres.

1 Explains the process of emergence and development of species.

3 Explains the relationship between genre cinema and socio-economic, cultural structure and ideology.
4 By evaluating the conventions, differences, codes, thematic and formal features of any film, it understands whether the film should be included in the genre category.
5 It interprets the changing process of genre films within the framework of social and historical background.
