Goals The aim of this course is to evaluate and examine the effects of mass media on society and individuals within a cultural framework.
Course Content In this course, the effects of mass media on people will be examined within the framework of the history of communication research.

1 Gain the ability to understand how society, culture and individuals change through media through basic theoretical discussions.
2 Gain the knowledge to question the different and diverse effects of media on society, culture and individuals within historical, economic, political, social and cultural patterns with an emphasis on context.
3 Evaluates communication, mass communication and media phenomena sociologically.
4 Explain how mass communication/media studies have been periodized historically and how media have been evaluated in each period.
5 Evaluates the (mass) communication system and media as a social institution.
