Goals The aim of this course is to examine the relationship between culture and political economy from a theoretical and critical perspective, and to develop the ability to analyze media, cinema, and television production processes within the framework of political economy approaches. The course aims to enable students to critically evaluate cultural production, ideology, power relations, and media content in the context of global capitalism.
Course Content This course covers the fundamental concepts of political economy, its historical development, and its relationship with cultural studies. It examines cultural industries, media ownership, production relations, ideology, hegemony, globalization, and digitalization processes. Film and television production and distribution are analyzed within a political economy framework to develop students’ critical perspectives.
