Goals The main aim of this course is to inform graduate students in the field of theology about the methods used by historians of religions in their studies. It also aims to help them understand the necessity of these methods from the perspective of the History of Religions. In addition, the course seeks to evaluate these methods in the light of recent developments in the academic study of religion in today’s world.

1 Explains the basic concepts, approaches, and methodologies used in the History of Religions.
2 Evaluates historical-critical, anthropological, psychological, sociological, and phenomenological methods comparatively.
3 Analyzes major methodological issues in the study of religion, such as reductionism, postmodernism, and insider-outsider perspectives.
