Goals The aim of this course is to introduce classical educational works that emerged as a result of Islam's emphasis on education and to examine the educational philosophy presented in these works. Within the scope of the course, the teaching principles, educational methods, and views on teacher-student relationships found in the educational classics written by Islamic thinkers are discussed, and the relationship of these approaches to today's educational understanding is evaluated. Thus, it is aimed that students will recognize the fundamental sources of Islamic educational thought and be able to analyze these works within the framework of contemporary educational approaches.
Course Content This course examines classical works that are among the fundamental sources of Islamic educational thought. The course covers the educational philosophy, teaching principles, educational objectives, teacher-student relationship, and educational methods found in the educational classics written by Islamic thinkers. In addition, the views on education of important thinkers such as Ghazali, Zarnuqi, Ibn Sahnun, Kabisi, Ibn Jamaa, and Ibn Khaldun are evaluated, and the place of these works within the Islamic educational tradition is examined. Furthermore, the educational philosophy presented in classical texts is examined from the perspective of contemporary educational approaches, aiming to enable students to evaluate these texts from a historical and pedagogical perspective.
