Goals The aim of this course is to examine advanced theoretical and methodological problems arising in the fundamental research areas of the psychology of religion and to enable students to approach these problems with a critical perspective. The course aims to develop students' ability to analyze the literature in the field by addressing theoretical debates and methodological difficulties encountered in researching topics such as the relationship between religion, the individual, and society; religious experience, religiosity, and religion and mental health.
Course Content This course addresses advanced problem areas related to the fundamental research topics of the psychology of religion. Topics such as religious experience, typologies of religiosity, the relationship between religion and personality, religion and mental health, religious coping, religious development, and the individual and social dimensions of religion are examined from theoretical and methodological perspectives. Furthermore, measurement tools used in religious psychology research, the impact of cultural context on research, and current debates in the field are evaluated, aiming to enable students to analyze the topics from a critical perspective.
