Goals Learning about the sources, historical development, and principles of ethics within the Islamic philosophical tradition, and their applications in various aspects of life.

1 Explaining the fundamental sources of Islamic moral thought (the Quran and the Sunnah) and their role in building morality.
2 Analyzing the discussions on good and evil and free will in the Kalam traditions (Mu'tazilite, Ash'arite, Maturidiyya).
3 Evaluating the fundamental concepts, stages, and methods of self-discipline within Sufi ethics.
4 Synthesizing and compares the theological, mystical, and philosophical approaches to ethics in Islamic thought.
5 Drawing upon traditional Islamic moral theories, it develops original and critical interpretations of contemporary ethical problems.
