Goals To learn the sources of Islamic philosophy, the birth of Islamic thought and foreign thoughts affecting it. To ensure that the philosophical periods of Islamic philosophy, which we define as the birth period and the development period, are recognized together with the philosophers and their schools.
Course Content Examining the formation process of Islamic philosophy depending on a certain chronology.

1 Analyzes the role of translations from Greek, Indian, and Pahlavi heritage in the formation of Islamic thought and the process of Islamization of this heritage.
2 Evaluates the theories of knowledge and being of major schools such as Peripateticism, Illuminationism, and Transcendent Philosophy in the post-classical period comparatively.
3 Traces the historical development of core philosophical problems such as essence-existence, eternity-temporality, and prophecy through classical texts.
4 Interprets the interaction and turning points between philosophy and kalam centered on Ghazali’s critique of philosophy and Ibn Rushd’s response (Incoherence debates).
5 Discusses the originality of the commentary and gloss tradition in post-classical Islamic philosophy and its place in the history of science.
