Goals The objective of this course is to inform students about 21st. century theatre approaches and practices.
Course Content The course will focus on 21st century theatre practices, directors, acting and staging techniques.

1 Has the theoretical and practical knowledge related to the methods of theatre and drama criticism, as well as dramaturgy.
2 Having the knowledge related to the theories, history, culture and aesthetics of theatre, internalises the theoretical and practical transformations in the field over time and attains the skill of evaluating these comparatively.
3 Has the theoretical knowledge of the elements, methods and techniques of the art of drama and attains the skill of integrating these with practice.
4 Has the knowledge of artistic and academic research methods and ethics that is related to art in general and theatre in particular.
5 Has the knowledge of the sub disciplines in the field of theatre (acting, directing, dramatic writing, stage design, dramaturgy) and relates these sub disciplines with each other.
6 Has the skill of analytic interpretation, which provides him/her working on a dramatic text towards staging creatively and critically with the director and other partners.
7 Puts forward innovative and original works by turning the knowledge on the art of drama that s/he learns into creative thought.
8 Has the knowledge and aesthetic sensibility, which provide him/her working alone or with his/her colleagues in a concordant and productive manner within project production processes that are related to the art of drama.
9 Has the communicative skill of transmitting subjects and works that are related to the art of drama to not only his colleagues but also to other members of society in an active and correct manner, as well as the analytical power of evaluating the results of this.
10 Following the contemporary developments in the field of performing arts in Turkey and abroad, has the knowledge concerning national and international values.
11 Improves his/her skills in critical and creative thinking, as well as expressing his/her thoughts in oral, embodied and written forms.
12 Has the knowledge of theatre’s connections with other arts (literature, cinema, opera, music, dance, painting, sculpture, etc.), as well as social sciences (philosophy, anthropology, sociology, aesthetics, art history, political sciencee, etc.) and makes research and production in his/her own field by using this interdisciplinary viewpoint.
13 Uses the up-to-date information and communication technologies that are required in the art of drama.
14 Improves the skill of connecting with the social, economical, political and especially cultural heritage of the history of civilisations and spends effort to make these values prevalent within the social environment s/he lives through projects and activities that s/he would prepare.
