Goals The objective of this course is to convey how the political, economic and cultural structures of societies affect the art; the theatre and theatre theories in particular, and to give the students new perspectives in order to generate alternative solutions to evaluate the theatre problems of our times.
Course Content This course focuses on the conception of theatre parallel to the Renaissance humanism in Italy, Spain, France and England. It also covers Classicism in 17th century, new interpretetations in 18th century, thoughts in the second half of the 18th century, which prepares Romanticism, and romantic theatre applications.

10 Following the contemporary developments in the field of performing arts in Turkey and abroad, has the knowledge concerning national and international values.
11 Improves his/her skills in critical and creative thinking, as well as expressing his/her thoughts in oral, embodied and written forms.
12 Has the knowledge of theatre’s connections with other arts (literature, cinema, opera, music, dance, painting, sculpture, etc.), as well as social sciences (philosophy, anthropology, sociology, aesthetics, art history, political sciencee, etc.) and makes research and production in his/her own field by using this interdisciplinary viewpoint.
13 Uses the up-to-date information and communication technologies that are required in the art of drama.
14 Improves the skill of connecting with the social, economical, political and especially cultural heritage of the history of civilisations and spends effort to make these values prevalent within the social environment s/he lives through projects and activities that s/he would prepare.
