Goals The site selection and facilities planning studies directly affect the profitability of the plant. To teach the reasons of plant location problems together with the facilities planning and to select the optimum place for a plant by using the related data and the scientific approaches.
Course Content To find the optimal solutions for these three problems the data gathering, data processing and creating the optimum by using optimization methods of engineering problems. These problems do not consider only the technical issues, but also the social and environmental issues.
Learning Outcomes - Develop the planning ability by preparing group projects about plant location, site selection and facilities planning and learn the project types suitable to the organization
- Learning the cost, quality and sustainability standards, and applications of the resource management by the help of resource allocation and task plans
- Getting the concrete applications of teached concepts like, line balancing, material handling, work units and workloads by using them for their projects
