Goals The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and experience about the importance, necessity, design, development and applications of database management systems. Database creation, data processing and query methods are explained with examples.
Course Content After the basic concepts about the relational database are given, the logic of database design is transferred. Database Management System Application program (MS SQL) visual interface and SQL (Structured Query Language) to explain the methods of creating a database, data processing and querying with examples.
Learning Outcomes - Understanding the concept of database management system, its components and its importance in the IT world
- To be able to design a conceptual database including constraints by analyzing job descriptions.
- To be able to transform the conceptual database design to a logical table design.
- To be able to implement the logical table design in a physical database environment (using SQL and using the tools of the database server).
- To be able to make necessary queries and other operations in business processes using SQL
- To be able to code procedures / functions and triggers using programming structures specific to SQL and database server system.
- To be able to set up and operate a database server and use the necessary tools / environments for access.
- To be able to design and develop a database for a specific job by working in a team,
- To prepare and present the necessary documentation and presentation for the database project.
