Goals The course aims to enable students to understand the relationship between cinema and politics within the framework of the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during their studies. It also aims to develop the ability to analyse and critically evaluate films within their political contexts, and to relate gender, race, sexual and ethnic micro-politics, implicit forms of propaganda, representations of political history, and the processes of production, distribution, and reception.
Course Content Cinema has historically been intertwined with politics, both through films that directly address political themes and through examples that reflect a political stance via their narrative techniques and aesthetic choices. In this context, the course is designed to examine the direct and indirect relationships between cinema and politics from a historical perspective.
