Goals The course aims to introduce the development of the art of sculpture in Turkey from the end of the nineteenth century to the contemporary period by focusing on artistic styles, individual artists, subjects, techniques, and influences.
Course Content In the first part of the course the main movements and styles in modern and contemporary Western sculpture, and the historical development of the department of sculpture in the Academy of Fine Arts will be examined.
Learning Outcomes - Explain the main developments in modern and contemporary sculpture in Turkey.
- Interpret the influences of the modern and contemporary Western sculpture on Turkish sculpture
- Recognize the individual sculptors, artistic styles, techniques, and subjects in modern and contemporary Turkish sculpture.
