Goals The course aims to introduce the development of the art of sculpture in Turkey from the endof the nineteenth century to the contemporary period by focusing on artistic styles, individualartists, subjects, techniques, and influences.
Course Content The course involves subjects such as the main movements and styles in modern and contemporary Western sculpture, the introduction of the art of sculpture in Turkey, the development of the department of sculpture in the Academy of Fine Arts, the relationship between sculpture and politics, sculpture and science, sculpture and environment in the context the modern and contemporary sculpture in Turkey.
Learning Outcomes - Explain the main developments in modern and contemporary sculpture in Turkey.
- Interpret the influences of the modern and contemporary Western sculpture on Turkish sculpture.
- Recognize the individual sculptors, artistic styles, techniques, and subjects in modern and contemporary Turkish sculpture.
