Goals To familiarize students with the basic concepts and problems of aesthetics, and to discuss the importance of beauty, aesthetic experience, and art in human life.
Course Content An introduction to fundamental issues and concepts of aesthetics. Main ideas about beauty, aesthetic experience, and art in different aesthetic traditions are examined.
Learning Outcomes - To be capable of defining narrow and broader senses of beauty.
- To be capable of explaining the difference between superficial and deep aesthetic appreciation.
- To be capable of characterizing different conceptions of beauty.
- To be capable of characterizing different types of aesthetic experience.
