Goals The aim of the course is to explain and teach the students the various phases of Turkish political life on the basis of events and political tendencies, starting from the Constitutional Monarchy period and including the Republican period.
Course Content Turkey's Political Life from the Ottoman Empire to the Present
Learning Outcomes - About the phases of Turkish political life and political events our students will gain knowledge within the proposed curriculum
- Constitutional Monarchy period and its development, the first elections of the Ottoman Empire
- Constitutional parliament
- Important political developments before and during the transition to the Republic
- The establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the establishment of the Republic, the new Turkish Republic phases of establishment
- Single Party period
- Free elections
- Coups and military interventions
- Post 80 Liberal period
- Historical development of the political economy of the Republic
