Goals | The aim of this course; to examine the research process conducted with children (determining the problem, data collection, data analysis and interpreting the results), review main research methods (experimental, descriptive, correlational and cause-comparative) and provide students techniques such as doing literature review, collecting data, analyzing data and preparing a research report to be able to do a research related to early childhood education. |
Course Content | Basics od scientific research, scientific method, research types stages of research process, ethical issues in research, defining problem, research problem, variables, hypothesis, sampling methods, sample size, data collection, measurement, reliability, validity, survey, observation, interview, getting data from children, quantitative research, qualitative method, reporting. |

- Explains basic concepts, terminology and descriptions related to scientific research. - Recognizes and compares different research methods and techniques. - Differenties data according to study's purpose and types. - Explains the principles of writing research report. - Evaluates ethical issues emerged during the research process. - Recognizes data collection techniques used in studies where children involved. - Plans the process for preparing a research proposal and prepares a research proposal related to early childhood. |
