Goals "Ergogenic Aids and Doping in Physical Performance" course aims to teach the effects of ergogenic aids on physical performance, the risks of doping substances on health and the legal regulations in the sports world in a comprehensive manner. This course addresses the physiological effects, intended use and potential side effects of substances used to enhance the performance of athletes. In addition, by understanding doping control processes, anti-doping regulations and ethical values, it is aimed to develop a scientific perspective that prioritises athlete health.
Course Content Ergogenic aids and doping concepts, effects of doping substances, anti-doping policies and WADA Doping control processes and ethical dimension, current researches constitute the general content of this course.
Learning Outcomes - Students will be able to define the concepts of ergogenic aids and doping, explain the role and historical development of these substances in the world of sport.
- Students will be able to classify doping substances according to WADA standards and explain the risks and physiological effects of these substances on athlete health.
- Students will have knowledge about the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and anti-doping rules, will be able to define doping control processes and athletes' rights.
- Students will be able to explain the methods of doping control tests (blood and urine tests, biological passport etc.) and the functioning of these testing processes.
- Students will be able to evaluate the scientific basis, legal regulations and ethical dimensions of doping and ergogenic aids.
