Goals | The course "Achievement Tests and Scale Development in Physical Education and Sport" aims to teach tests and scale development processes used to measure achievement in physical education and sport. This course aims to enable students to prepare valid and reliable tests to measure sport performance, evaluate different performance indicators and develop specially designed scales in the field of sport. In addition, it is aimed that students will be able to analyse and interpret the results by using scientific methods in the measurement and evaluation process. |
Course Content | Basic concepts of measurement and evaluation, success criteria in physical education and sport, scale development process, validity and reliability analyses, data collection methods, ethical principles, reporting of results constitute the general content of this course. |
Learning Outcomes |
- Students will be able to comprehend the basic principles of the process of measuring and evaluating success in physical education and sport by defining the concepts of measurement, evaluation, test and scale. - Students will be able to analyse valid and reliable success measures in the field of sport and gain the ability to select appropriate tests for different sports and age groups. - Students will be able to develop and analyse scales that evaluate psychological factors such as motivation, self-confidence and focus in athletes. - Students will be able to evaluate the scientific value of measurement tools by making validity and reliability analyses (internal consistency, test-retest reliability, etc.) in scales and tests. - Students will develop the ability to analyse test and scale results, report results and provide feedback to athletes or students. |
