Goals The aim of the seminar is to enable and encourage the students to do literature search on a given or selected topic, to give them the opportunity to learn synthesising the information gathered from the searched literature, to analyse, interpret and discuss the findings in the light of available literature, to compile the results in the form of a report and to submit them before an audience.
Course Content The seminar is a compulsory part of the doctorate programme and contains significant pieces of work indispensable for an independent research, such as literature search, creating a data base for the information collected, classification of collected data or information, report writing and preparing a power point presentation.
Learning Outcomes - To gain a background in science, mathematics and its own engineering discipline including to use theoretical and practical knowledge in engineering solutions
- Ability to point, identify and solve problems in its own field, choosing and applying proper analytical methods and models
- Competence to analyze a system or a process in addition to designing and applying modern management methods under realistic restrictions
- Choosing and utilizing modern techniques and equipments in its field involving effective use of informatics
- Designing and applying laboratory experiments carrying data collection and analysis
- Capability to reach knowledge and literature including searching skills for related data bases and search engines
- Capacity to work as an individual or in a multi-disciplinary environment with respect to developing self confidence in responsibility taking
- Developing effective verbal and written communication skills in Turkish and English
- Ability to follow new developments and state of the art knowledge in science and technology containing self-development
