Goals The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to explain how gender is represented and negotiated in the media, within the framework of basic concepts and theoretical approaches related to gender.
Course Content The content of this course is to raise awareness about the basic concepts of gender as a social construct, how gender is represented in the media and how it is negotiated.
Learning Outcomes - By reading the media critically, they distinguish the role of the media in reproducing gender.
- It establishes a connection between patriarchal discourse and sexist media policies.
- Analyzes the stereotypes in which men and women are represented in the media.
- Using critical theory, one can evaluate the effects of gender reproduced in television programs on social life.
