Goals To enable the student to show that he / she can carry out an independent piece of research on a theme in a scientifically sound manner and to demonstrate his/her ability to address a specific problem in a scientifically sound, ethical, thorough and precise manner in the course of a given period of time, and to help the student to communicate his or her findings convincingly.
Course Content The Master Thesis consists of a report based on an independent piece of research to be completed following the completion of the thought courses. The thesis is based on a pre-defined set of problems and lead by a supervisor in the same academic unit. The supervision ensures that the student gets advice regarding literature, approaches towards solving the problems being dealt with, the acquisition and treatment of data, and ethical guidelines in research. The final exam consists of the thesis and an oral exam.
Learning Outcomes - To gain a background in science, mathematics and its own engineering discipline including to use theoretical and practical knowledge in engineering solutions
- Ability to point, identify and solve problems in its own field, choosing and applying proper analytical methods and models
- Competence to analyze a system or a process in addition to designing and applying modern management methods under realistic restrictions
- Choosing and utilizing modern techniques and equipments in its field involving effective use of informatics
- Designing and applying laboratory experiments carrying data collection and analysis
- Capability to reach knowledge and literature including searching skills for related data bases and search engines
- Capacity to work as an individual or in a multi-disciplinary environment with respect to developing self confidence in responsibility taking
- Developing effective verbal and written communication skills in Turkish and English
- Ability to follow new developments and state of the art knowledge in science and technology containing self-development
- Gaining professional and ethical responsibility
- Competency to develop and manage projects containing work place applications, safety, work law and environmental issues
- Having universal and social consciousness in engineering problems and applications underlining entrepreneurship and innovative values
