Goals The aim of the seminar is to enable and encourage the students to do literature search on a given or selected topic, to give them the opportunity to learn synthesizing the information gathered from the searched literature, to analyze, interpret and discuss the findings in the light of available literature, to compile the results in the form of a report and to submit them before an audience.
Course Content 1) To gain a background in science, mathematics and its own engineering discipline including to use theoretical and practical knowledge in ecology 2) Ability to point, identify and solve problems in its own field, choosing and applying proper analytical methods and models 3) Competence to analyze a system or a process in addition to designing and applying modern management methods under realistic restrictions 4) Choosing and utilizing modern techniques and equipment in its field involving effective use of informatics 5) Designing and applying laboratory experiments carrying data collection and analysis 6) Capability to reach knowledge and literature including searching skills for related data bases and search engines 7) Capacity to work as an individual or in a multi-disciplinary environment with respect to developing self confidence in responsibility taking 8) Developing effective verbal and written communication skills in Turkish and English 9) Ability to follow new developments and state of the art knowledge in science and technology containing self-development 10) Gaining professional and ethical responsibility 11) Competency to develop and manage projects containing work place applications, safety, work law and environmental issues 12) Having universal and social consciousness in ecological problems and applications underlining entrepreneurship and innovative values
Learning Outcomes - Students able to define the problems related to wildlife and develop solutions compatible with the conjuncture at the global, social and ecosystem levels.
- Students able to understand laws and legislation related to wildlife, evaluate implementations of them and sectorial organization in wildlife.
- Students able to reveal the socio-cultural or human dimension of wildlife management, raise awareness and attain a participatory approach in planning, implementation and controlling
- Students able to maintain a balance among conservation, improvement of wildlife and use of products and services of wildlife.
- Students able to use modern methods of monitoring, census and analysis methods in wildlife.
- Student with skills of self-decision making, analytical thinking and effective communication; be able to participate in a teamwork.
- Students will have the basic knowledge for the inventory of wild animals and wildlife management planning
- Students with skills of defining wildlife-related problems at national and international level, developing, implementing and completing projects to solve wildlife-related problems.
- Students developing responsibility for the sense of occupation and professional ethics
