Goals To provide students with specific knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to the field in order to ensure the healthy growth and development of the newborn, to protect the health of the newborn, to increase it and to regain its health in case of illness.
Course Content Introduction to neonatology & history Neonatal Nursing in the world and Turkey, Organization of Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Evaluation of newborn, Newborn Resuscitation, Healthy Newborn Nursing Care,Characteristics of Preterm Newborn and Nursing Care, High Risk Newborn Diseases and Nursing Care, Pain Management and Atraumatic Care in Newborn, Newborn Transport, Newborn Screening, Individualized Developmental Care of Newborn, New Research on Improving Newborn Health, Discharge of the Newborn.
Learning Outcomes - The current situation on neonatal health in the world and Turkey, understand the issues in this area and to carry out the ideas for solutions
- To know the organization and infection control protocols of neonatal intensive care units
- To be able to examine the newborn in the delivery room,
- Ability to perform a physical examination of the newborn
- To know and apply the principles of neonatal resuscitation
- To know and apply the principles of neonatal care
- To know the characteristics and care principles of preterm newborn
- To know and apply the diseases and nursing care of high risk newborn
- Ability to manage pain in newborn
- To be able to apply individualized developmental care in newborn
