Goals It is aimed to teach the basic design principles to be used in the design process, to show the basic design principles in order to increase creative ability and to gain the necessary skills to use them in applications.
Course Content Design principles and elements, visual communication and perception in visual arts, shape-ground relation, space, form and geometry, space in architecture, design elements (line, direction, measure, texture, form, color, value) and design principles (harmony, contrast , hierarchy, unity, sovereignty, balance), perception / comprehension in two and three dimensional compositions.
Learning Outcomes - Learning the basic elements and principles of architectural design

- Developing abstraction skills in architecture

2. Week presentation and discussion on two dimensional design components point, line, surface, direction, form
3. Week Presentation and discussion on design elements (size, range, texture)
4. Week Presentation on elements of design (repeat-fit-opposition, hierarchy, sovereignty)
5. Week Presentation and discussion on design elements (balance)
6. Week Presentation and discussion on the Gestalt theorem and the golden ratio
7. Week Presentation and discussion on design elements (color-value-tone)
8. Week Presentation and discussion on design elements (light-shadow-transparency)
9. Week Midterm Exam
10. Week Presentation and discussion on figure-ground relationship.
11. Week Processing of form-geometry subjects and application of creating 3D forms
12. Week transition from two dimensions to 3 dimensions-surface texture
13. Week Discussion of 3D design components of space-plane-mass-body concepts.
