Goals To read and understand printed texts written in Ottoman Turkish.
Course Content Letters used in Ottoman Turkish,Famous sounds in Turkish words, sign of letters,noun suffixes, person pronouns, sign pronouns, plural suffixes, number names, Persian phrases, Turkish archaic words,Words and phrases from Arabic and Persian to Ottoman, Reinforcing the grammar rules learned by reading selected texts.
Learning Outcomes - Recognize the transcription alphabet used in Ottoman Turkish.
- Translate Arabic and Persian words in the texts with the help of dictionary.
- Defines the basic grammar rules of Arabic and Persian used in Ottoman Turkish.
- Explain the general spelling features of Ottoman Turkish.
- Read literary and cultural texts written in Ottoman Turkish.
