Goals Turkey's local governments structure, the definition of local authorities, importance, value is based; decentralization and local governments, local governments in constitutions and local democracy, local administration organizations; municipalities, metropolitan municipalities, provincial administrations and describe the basic features of the management units, such as villages.
Course Content This course tries to understand that Turkey's local administration structure, the importance and the principles of local authorities. Additionally, decentralization and local administrations, local democracy and local administration in the constitutions, local administrative institutions; the municipality units such as metropolitan municipality and villages will be covered considering the relations of local governments with the central government.
Learning Outcomes - To be able to define the basic philosophy of the local administration units (special provincial administration, municipalities, villages and unions)
- Be able to determine the legislation on public services carried out by local governments
- To be able to analyze the institutional structures of local governments related to each other and their external stakeholders for sustainable urban development
- To be able to analyze the legal role of local administrations and related institutional structures in sustainable life quality indicators in terms of their theoretical and practical integrity.
