Goals In this course the management schemes of Byzantine Empire, the Islamic States, Seljuk and Ottoman empires and Turkish Republic will be examined in details.
Course Content The course tries to understand Turkish administrative history in a historical context. Course content will be formed by topics; in terms of Old Turkish administrations, administrative institutions in Seljuks and their effects on the Ottoman Empire, administration structure and thought in classical period, modernization movements in administration, movements of thought relating to administration in Tanzimat and Meşrutiyet periods and restoration of the governance in Republic period.
Learning Outcomes - Explain the historical background of today's public administration structure and management culture
- To understand the effects of the old Turks, Islamic civilization and Seljuk administration on the administrative structure of the Ottoman Empire
- To learn the administrative system of the Ottoman Empire
- Interpret the management institutions and experiences that have been transferred from Ottoman to Republic.
