Goals To know transportation terms, traffic capacity, highway elements and geometrical characteristics.
Course Content History of highways and transportation, classification of highways, terminology of highway engineering, specifications of traffic, annual daily traffic, composition of traffic, estimations of traffic, design speed, types of vehicles, min. curves for turning, curves, lanes, transition curves, horizontal and vertical curves, intersections
Learning Outcomes - Interpret and use the information gained about road traffic in daily life.
- Having capability of comment of socio-economic of transportation systems
- Having knowledge of elements and functions of them of transportation
- Having knowledge about parameters used in design of highways
