Goals Teaching the main concepts of soil mechanics
Course Content Formation of soils, Physical properties of soils, Classification of soils, Soil stresses, Consolidation of soils, Shear strength of soils, Compaction theories, Earth Pressures
Learning Outcomes - He/She can restate the formation of soils
- He/She can analyse the physical properties of soils
- He/She can categorize the soils according the Turkish and other standarts
- He/She can calculate the vertical and horizontal soil pressures
- He/She can calculate the soil water flow and its pressure
- He/She can restate the consolidation theory
- He/She can calculate the consolidation settlements
- He/She can demonstrate the shear strength parameters using the laboratory test data
- He/She can propose the max dry density and optimum water content values
