Goals The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the importance of polymers in our daily lives, basic terminologies in polymer chemistry, naming, synthesis and physical behavior of polymers.
Course Content Introduction and definitions, Classification of polymers, Thermal behavior of polymers, Mechanical properties of polymers, Solubility properties of polymers, Molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, Molecular weight and distribution determination, Polymerization reactions; Participation Polymerization, Condensation Polymerization, Polymerization methods; Special Polymerization Reactions, General properties of polymers, Structure and properties of base polymers.
