Goals To provide an understanding of interactions between insects and their surrounding factors with the resulting effects on their populations. The students are expected to have the ability to use this understanding especially for pest control in agricultural ecosystems
Course Content Abiotic and biotic factors underlying the distribution, abundance, and dynamics of insects. How to measure these factors, and how they affect insect population processes (population stability and pest outbreaks), interactions, and community structure, especially in agricultural ecosystems
Learning Outcomes - Learning the relationship between incests and their environment
- Lerning factors influencing the diversity, distribution and abundance of insects environment
- Learning structure and dynamics of population systems
- learning population demography, sampling, life-tables, temperature-dependent development
- learning predation, competition, dispersal, population stability and pest outbreaks
