Goals The course aims to explain the general characteristics of fungi, to give basic information on fungal nutrition, growth and reproduction, to introduce certain taxonomic categories that contain plant pathogenic fungi
Course Content Description of biology and ecology of plant pathogenic fungi. Issues retaletd to fungal pathogenesis. Morphology and taxonomy of plant pathogenic fungi and life cycle of important pathogens. Plant-fungi confrontation and type of parasitism in plants.
Learning Outcomes - Learning the main characteristics of fungi distinguishing them from other groups of microorganism
- Understanding their importance in many relations with human life
- Gaining the basic information on reproductive structures which are using to identificate fungi
- Comprehending the differences in phenotypic characters that are essantial for fungal taxonomy
- Learning the life cycles of plant pathogenic fungi
