Goals Firstly it is aimed to give general information about the development process of New Turkish Literature during Tanzimat period. Then it is aimed to teach the sources of Tanzimat Period Turkish Literature, the change that started with the Tanzimat and the literary figures of the period. It is aimed to give information about literature, culture and art life in Tanzimat Period.
Course Content The definition, area, limit, basic concepts of New Turkish Literature as well as its general characteristics, scope and importance. An overview of the qualifications and artists of Tanzimat Period Turkish Literature. The life, ideas and literary personality of Abraham Sinasi, Namik Kemal, Ziya Pasha, Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem, Abdülhak Hâmid and Muallim Naci.
Learning Outcomes - Know the sources of New Turkish Literature.
- He/She has knowledge about Tanzimat Fermanı and its results.
- Tanzimat era has knowledge about the development process of New Turkish Literature and acquires general information about New Turkish Literature.
- Knows in general terms the literary movements in Western literature in the 19th century.
- During Tanzimat period, he has knowledge about the effect of Western literature on New Turkish Literature.
- It has information about 19th century newspaper and journalism activities.

3. Week Analysis of İbrahim Şinasi's poems "Münâcât", "Kaside I", "Kaside II" and analysis of the theater “Şair Evlenmesi”.

5. Week An analysis of Nâmık Kemal's poems "Hürriyet Kasidesi", "Vaveyla" and "Vatan Şarkısı". Analysis of the preface of Nâmık Kemal's"Celâleddin Harzemşah" theater.
