Goals The course aims to study the concepts of modern, modernity, modernism, postmodernism and to describe particularly the art movements and problems of 20th century evaluating the position of art in the society of consumption.
Course Content This is a course to deal with the new technologies and modes of production in the course of modern and beyond art movements. It also objectifies the basic concepts and methods of modern and postmodern art, culture of the late capitalist society, the end of great narratives and history out of the artists, works, and trends. The first semester of the course includes the movements through minimalism.
Learning Outcomes - Student is able to interpret artwork by historical, social, economic, and geographical contexts.
- Student developes a skill for visual literacy and analysis.
- Student defines artworks and art movements from 20th century.
- Student gets a vision fort he production styles of different cultures and eras.
- Student learns about the history of artistic means and new technologies.
- Student gets a historical consciousness.
- The knowledge on the relation among artist, work of art, audience and art institutions is learned and the skill of interpretation.
