Goals The purpose of the course is familiarising the students with theatre thoughts of the periods in question and making them get the skill in evaluating their contemporary reflections.
Course Content The first part of the course covers realist-naturalist theatre thought with a focus on theatre and acting theories that has been developed by Stanislavsky. The second part of the course covers the theories of anti-realist tendencies of the later period, as well as avant-garde theatre movements at the beginning of the 20th century.
Learning Outcomes - Gets the knowledge about realist-naturalist theatre theory that has emerged in 19th century European Theatre.
- Gets the knowledge about Stanislavsky's theatre and acting theories.
- Gets the knowledge about anit-realist tendencies in theatre theory.
- Gets theoretical knowledge about avand-garde movements that have emerged at the beginning of 20th century.
- Has the skill in evaluating the practices that belong to the corresponding periods by using the theoretical knowledge he got in the course.
- Has the skill in evaluating the contemporary influences of different theatre thoughts that are studied in the course.
