Goals The purpose of this course is to enable the students to identify various literary and critical theory and to gain the ability to critical and creative thinking on the major plays of the history of theatre, as well as questioning the relationship between playwriter, play and society.
Course Content In this course, from the classical period to the present, basic criticism theories will be discussed, and the basis for examining literary texts and cultural structures with a contemporary approach will be established. The semestre topics are: The theories of classical, enlightenment and romantic period, New Criticism and Russian formalism, structuralism, reception aesthetics, impressionist criticism and Marxist criticism.

- Recognizes that a text can be read with varied methods.
- Develops play review writing skills.
