Goals The course aims to examine different philosophical approaches and various issues of the history of ideas from the nineteenth century to today.
Course Content The idea of the modern world; positivism, language and meaning; historicism, phenomenology and hermeneutics; psychoanalysis and the unconscious; individualism and existentialism; mass culture; structuralism, post-structuralism, and post-modernism; orientalism and post-colonialism; environmentalism.
Learning Outcomes - Gets the knowledge about the main issues of the history of ideas and philosophy from the nineteenth century to the contemporary.
- To be capable of developing intellectual, critical thinking on the subjects of culture and the arts.
- To be capable of evaluating controversial ideas
