Goals This course aims to help teacher candidates develop environmental awareness and the skills to effectively teach this awareness at the primary level. Candidates will be able to analyze environmental issues and the impact of human activities on the environment, gaining a sustainability perspective on topics such as energy use and waste management. Additionally, they will acquire the knowledge and skills to teach environmental awareness through classroom and outdoor activities. By the end of the course, candidates will become conscientious, knowledgeable, and critically thinking teachers in environmental education.
Course Content Introduction and Environmental Awareness: Understanding the concept of environmental awareness and forming teaching groups. Article Analysis on Environmental Issues: Reviewing academic articles related to environmental awareness. Fundamental Elements of the Environment: Exploring key environmental components such as air, water, soil, and biodiversity. Environmental Threats: Examining the environmental impacts of urbanization, waste management, and chemical substances. Impact of Human Activities on the Environment: Analyzing the environmental effects of energy, transportation, agriculture, forestry, and tourism. Global Environmental Issues: Addressing global issues such as climate change, the ozone layer, acid rain, and ocean conservation. Values Education: Exploring values related to consumption, health, the environment, and citizenship rights. Environmental Education Practices: Student-centered environmental education activities for both indoor and outdoor settings.
