[] About Program

Today, the architecture and construction sectors prioritize not only design but also technology, speed, and constructability. Bringing complex building designs to life is only possible with strong Computer-Aided Design (CAD) knowledge and a solid technical infrastructure.

The Architectural Drafting Program was established to train qualified technical personnel capable of digitally drafting preliminary, implementation, and detail projects designed by architects and engineers, in accordance with desired measurements and using technical knowledge related to construction technology. Our program, which began admitting students in 2008, is highly sought after as it fills the industry's gap for "technical personnel proficient in technology."

Education Model: Workplace Training with 3+1 The "3+1 Education Model" is implemented in our program to enable students to adapt to the industry more quickly. In this system, our students receive theoretical and applied courses at school for three semesters, while completing their final semester by undergoing full-time "Workplace Vocational Training" at enterprises. Thanks to this model, our students gain sectoral experience before graduating and start their professional lives one step ahead.

Course Content and Learning Outcomes Our students graduate with 120 ECTS credits at the end of two years. The courses in our curriculum, covering both theory and practice, encompass every stage of the building production process.

The main vocational courses offered in our program are:

  • Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD)

  • Architectural Implementation Project

  • Architectural Detailing

  • Model Making

  • Building Materials

  • Zoning Regulations (İmar Bilgisi)

  • Building Knowledge

  • Construction Technology

  • Surveying and Restoration (Rölöve)

  • Construction Cost Estimation

  • Structural System Design

  • Reinforced Concrete Implementation Project

Software Skills & Employability Students graduating from the program increase their employability in the sector by learning current design and visualization programs such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, and Lumion, as well as quantity takeoff and progress payment software like Oska.

Career Opportunities Our graduates can work in official institutions such as municipalities, private engineering and architectural firms, construction sites, and building inspection firms.

Vertical Transfer Opportunities (DGS) Additionally, graduated Architectural Drafting Technicians who wish to continue their careers at the undergraduate (Bachelor's) level have the opportunity to transfer to the following departments via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM:

  • Architecture

  • Civil Engineering

  • Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets

[] Goals
Knowing how to find the method to use in solving the problems faced, having command of current professional computer technologies, capable of following the developing technology, having sufficient equipment related to construction technologies, drawing specially designed architectural projects in detail according to zoning regulations and construction techniques. To train Architectural Drafting Technicians who are open to professional innovations.
[] Objectives
To be an exemplary and pioneering program in which the latest developments in computer aided architectural design technologies are actively used, developments in construction technologies are constantly followed, current information is used, open to continuous development, can access, produce and share information.
[] Education Language
Turkish
[] Degree to Be Won
Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting.
[] Earned Level of Qualification
It is a program that provides associate degree education.
[] Admission Requirements
The admissions of students to the programs are made according to the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Center about what programs they want to study at, students are placed in the related programs according to their scores they got from the exam. Graduates of related vocational high schools can enroll in the department within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC).

Foreign students are admitted to the related programs with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programs with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).

The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programs are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this program, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the program.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 120 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.Students are also required to complete the compulsory practice in the specified time.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.
[] Description of Program

The main purpose of Architectural Drafting Program is to train qualified personnel graduated from vocational schools who can take jobs to draw the construction plans prepared by architects and engineers (especially architectural and statically projects) in accordance with the rules of the desired dimensions.
