(2) The thesis-based master's program consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course, and a thesis study, provided that the total number of credits is not less than twenty-one. The seminar course and thesis study are non-credit courses and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The thesis-based master's program consists of at least eight courses, including the seminar course, and a thesis study, totaling at least 120 ECTS credits, provided that the total number of credits is not less than 60 ECTS credits. The student must register for the thesis period every semester, starting from the semester following the assignment of the advisor at the latest.
(3) A maximum of two of the courses to be taken by the student may be selected from undergraduate courses, provided that they were not taken during undergraduate studies. (4) The thesis-based master's program can be conducted as a second postgraduate education program.
Duration
ARTICLE 7 – (1) The duration of the thesis-based master's program is four semesters, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the registered program are given, regardless of whether the student is registered for each semester, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters. (2) Students who fail to successfully complete the credit courses and seminar course included in the curriculum at the end of four semesters; or who fail the thesis work or do not attend the thesis defense within the maximum time limits, will be dismissed. (3) Students who meet the required ECTS credit value and minimum course requirements for graduation can graduate from the master's program in at least three semesters.

(2) Before the defense of the master's thesis, and in the case of theses requiring corrections, the student completes the thesis along with the corrections and submits it to their advisor. The advisor submits the thesis to the institute along with their opinion on whether the thesis is defensible. The institute receives the plagiarism software report regarding the thesis and sends it to the advisor and jury members. If actual plagiarism is detected in the data in the report, the thesis is sent to the EYK for a decision, along with the justification. (3) The master's thesis jury is appointed with the recommendation of the thesis advisor and the relevant EABDB/EASDB and the approval of the EYK. The jury consists of three or five faculty members, one of whom is the student's thesis advisor and at least one of whom is from outside the University. If the jury consists of three people, the second thesis advisor cannot be a jury member. (4) The student who completes the thesis work submits the required number of copies of the thesis to the thesis advisor. The advisor sends the copies of the thesis to the relevant institute via EABDB/EASDB with his/her written opinion on the conformity of the thesis to the writing rules. (5) The jury members meet within one month at the latest from the date the thesis is submitted to them and conduct the thesis exam. The thesis exam consists of the presentation of the thesis work and a question-and-answer session following it. The thesis exam is conducted in an environment open to the participation of faculty members, graduate students and experts in the field.
(6) After the completion of the thesis examination, the jury decides on acceptance, rejection, or correction of the thesis by a simple majority. This decision is reported to the institute by the EABDB/EASDB within three days following the thesis examination. (7) The student whose thesis is rejected due to failure is dismissed. (8) The student whose thesis is deemed to require correction defends the corrected thesis before the same jury within three months at the latest. If the student is found to be unsuccessful at the end of this defense and the thesis is not accepted, the student is dismissed. (9) If the student whose thesis is rejected requests it, they will be awarded a non-thesis master's degree, provided they have fulfilled the course credit load, project writing, and similar requirements of the non-thesis master's program in departments with non-thesis master's programs.
