The Department of Visual Communication and Design, established in the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, commenced enrolling students for the academic year 2022-2023. The Department of Visual Communication and Design aims to provide students with a comprehensive education that meets global standards by offering innovative, adaptable, and cutting-edge programs that are responsive to emerging digital technologies, fostering creativity and practical skills. Currently, the department has one Associate Professor, two assistant professors, and one lecturer.
The objective of the Department of Visual Communication and Design is to develop creative individuals who possess a combination of theoretical and technical knowledge, which is informed by the design culture, and who can effectively apply their skills derived from creative and critical thinking in a genuine manner.
The objective of this program is to educate designers who possess both artistic and technical skills, and are capable of operating in various sectors of the academic field and visual communication design industries, such as publishing houses, graphic animation and multimedia production companies, advertising and graphic design studios, design departments of corporations, and more. Additionally, the department aims to establish a benchmark for quality in the field.

Students were enrolled in the programs according to the regulations set by the Higher Education Council (HEC) and the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Upon informing the center of their desired programs, students were placed in the relevant courses based on their exam scores.
Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).
The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.
Students enrolled in DU may be exempt from certain courses, subject to meeting specific regulations. A student may be exempted from a particular course if they have previously received equivalent content from another institution that follows DU's standards, and this exemption is subject to approval and verification by the Board of Faculty/Graduate School/School.

To successfully complete the 240 ECTS worth of courses in the program, students must earn a minimum score of 50 out of 100 and maintain a weighted grade point average of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00. Additionally, students must achieve a passing grade of at least DD in all of the courses offered in the program. In a specified timeframe, all students are required to finish mandatory practical training.
Students who graduated from the department can work in the design industry and related institutional departments, such as publishers, production companies of graphic-animation and multimedia, advertising and graphic design agencies, design deparments of firms, software firms, TV channels, film production companies, animation firms, and multimedia video game design companies.
