The aim of the Doctorate Programme in Physical Education and Sports Teaching, which is prepared with contemporary educational approaches, is to develop students' research skills specific to the fields of physical education and sports. In this four-year programme, students learn research design, data collection, knowledge of current literature, statistical methods and conducting research that will make original contributions to the field. With the successful defence of the doctoral thesis, the title of Dr. is obtained.
With the Doctorate Programme of Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department, it is aimed to educate educated individuals, trainers and administrators who have a scientific perspective and meet the sports and movement needs of individuals of all ages and to bring them to the academic community.
To support the development of more competent, visionary and expert staff in the field of Higher Education as a branch of science, To improve the scientific research environment in education, To increase the cooperation and information circulation between academicians and experts working in the field, To provide an environment where students can develop their skills to establish more effective human relations with their colleagues in education and sports environments, To increase the number of research and applications carried out in Turkey and within the borders of Düzce Province and to increase the number of international scientific exchanges (Erasmus, UA, NGO, Project partnerships with Ministries, etc.).The objectives of this programme are to contribute to quality studies and sustainability in the current academic and vocational scientific education of Düzce University.
Students who successfully complete the programme are entitled to receive the title of Doctor in the field of Physical Education and Sports.
This programme is a PhD level programme.
Students admitted to the physical education and sports doctorate programme are accepted among the graduates of Master's programmes in the same or different fields in accordance with the criteria of YÖK and Düzce University Institute of Educational Sciences.
The conditions and quotas of students to be admitted to graduate programmes are determined and announced with the proposal of the relevant department heads, additional decision and approval of the Senate.
A one semester scientific preparation programme may be offered for the students of the departments other than the graduates of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Master's Degree.Turkish students applying to the programme must have at least 60 points from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the score type of the programme they apply for, and at least 55 points from YDS, YÖKDİL or one of the foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by YÖK.
The amount of ECTS credits that students must complete in order to graduate from the Doctorate Programme with Thesis in the Department of Physical Education and Sport is determined as 30 for each semester and 240 in total.The duration of education is 4 years. The language of education is Turkish.In addition, the student is required to prepare a doctoral thesis at the end of a doctoral thesis study and to make an oral thesis defence for the thesis.
If the content of the course taken at another institution is appropriate to the content of the course given at DU and approved by the board of directors of the relevant faculty/institute/school, the student may be exempted from this course.
Recognition of Education Abroad
The academic terms and courses of students who study as exchange students for one or two semesters at universities abroad with which we have an agreement are recognised by DU.
Students selected to benefit from Student Learning Mobility within the scope of the ERASMUS programme are obliged to prepare a learning agreement with their ERASMUS Unit Coordinators before the start of their mobility period. This learning agreement shows the courses and ECTS values to be taken at the partner university where the student will study. In addition, students are required to prepare a Recognition Sheet. In this document, the equivalents of the courses that students will take abroad are shown and the credit transfer to be made is determined.
At the end of the exchange period, the courses taken abroad are shown on the transcripts with their original codes and names, ECTS credits and grades. In the official transcripts of the students, the abbreviation "ET", which stands for "courses taken at universities abroad within the scope of the ERASMUS Programme and cooperation agreements", appears next to these courses.
Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department Doctorate Programme is a four-year formal education programme taught in Turkish language. Accordingly, 240 ECTS is completed at the end of the programme.Düzce University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching has a sufficient number of faculty members who can support the programme.
