The
Philosophy and Religious Studies department offers a master's program for
individuals who aim to acquire a fundamental knowledge base in the field, and
to develop a high sense of efficiency and quality that can enhance themselves
and society. The program includes courses geared towards master's thesis work,
and students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Master's
Degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies (with Thesis).
The aim of the Department of Philosophy and
Religious Studies is to train individuals who have acquired the competence to
conduct scientific research in the disciplines within the main branch of
science, who are familiar with and can find solutions to the problems in their
field, who have adopted scientific thinking and ethical principles, and who
possess qualities of inquiry, development, creativity, and participation in
academic matters. The department also aims to conduct scientific research to
solve societal problems in philosophy and religious studies, contribute to
scientific knowledge, produce scientific results, and share these with relevant
parties.
The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies aims to
provide its postgraduate students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies
to:
1- Identify research topics in philosophical disciplines
related to theology and religious studies.
2- Determine and access the information sources of the
research topic, and collect the necessary data.
3- Analyze and evaluate the data obtained in the direction
of solving the research problem.
4- Conduct research according to scientific standards and
produce usable results.
5- Share their scientific findings with relevant
individuals, institutions, and organizations.
6- Conduct their studies in accordance with the
principles of scientific ethics.
Upon
successful completion of the program and meeting the program competencies, one
will attain a Master's degree in the field of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
This program is a master's level teaching program.
• To have a bachelor's degree
• To be a graduate of the Faculty of Theology or Islamic
Studies
• To have a minimum score of 55 in the ALES (Academic
Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination)
• To have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2
out of 4, or an equivalent score.
Students studying in the thesis master's program,
• They are required to enroll in at least 7 courses and a
Seminar and Master's Thesis and complete 120 ECTS credits. In order to be
successful in a course in their program, they must receive at least a CB grade
from that course.
• They are required to have a GPA of at least 3.00 out of
4.00 in all courses prescribed in their program and to be successful in the
Seminar course and Master's Thesis Defense.
Students who have graduated from Theology Faculties, Islamic
Studies Faculties, Religious Studies Faculties at universities, as well as
equivalent faculties and higher education institutions in the country and
abroad whose equivalence has been recognized by these faculties, are eligible
to apply for this master's program.
It is
a program that aims to educate qualified human resources and researchers
capable of studying various dimensions of human, religion, and culture
relationships in the field of Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Master's Program.
Graduates
can be appointed as instructors in the relevant departments of the faculties of
theology, work in primary and secondary education institutions, as well as
positions as mufti or equivalent status in the Presidency of Religious Affairs.
Students who graduate from this program can apply to study
in doctoral programs.
Our
program consists of at least seven courses, one seminar course and thesis work,
with a total of not less than twenty-one credits. Seminar course and thesis
work are non-credit and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The thesis
master's program consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at
least eight courses, including the seminar course, and thesis work, provided
that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in one academic semester.
It is
explained in detail in the section titled 'Principles Related to
Education-Teaching and Examinations' of the Düzce University Postgraduate
Education and Instruction Regulations.
Provided
that they complete the mandatory course credits, succeed in the thesis defense,
and meet other conditions, students who submit their master's thesis in the
manner determined by the institute's board will be awarded a Master's degree.
