The aim of the PhD Program in the Department of Cinema and Television is to provide students with the theoretical awareness required in the field of cinema and television, using a scientific perspective and methodology. This program is designed to equip students who aspire to achieve academic proficiency in this field with the necessary knowledge and expertise.
This program offers education at the doctoral level.
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a PhD degree in Cinema and Television.
To have completed undergraduate and/or graduate studies in one of the following programs: 'Cinema,' 'Cinema and Television,' or 'Radio, Television, and Cinema,' and to meet the required scores in language proficiency, ALES, graduation grade, etc., as specified by the relevant regulations (YÖK, University, Institute).
The PhD program consists of at least nine courses with a minimum of twenty-seven credits, a PhD Qualifying Exam + Thesis Proposal, thesis work, and field specialization courses.
The PhD program includes 240 ECTS credits, with each academic term comprising a minimum of 30 ECTS credits.
The student verbally defends the thesis work prepared in accordance with the spelling rules accepted by the senate to the jury.
To have completed undergraduate and graduate studies in one of the following programs: Cinema; Cinema and Television; Radio, Television and Cinema; or Film Design.

Graduates of the Cinema and Television PhD program can work in different branches of the cinema and television sectors in pre-production, production and post-production stages. When the academic staff needs of the universities in our country are taken into consideration, it is seen that students have the opportunity to make a career in universities.
Students who complete the doctoral program may apply to postdoctoral programs.
The duration of the doctoral program is eight semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program in which the student is registered are given, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, regardless of whether or not he/she registers for each semester, and the program is completed in a maximum of twelve semesters.
