Mechanical engineering is an engineering discipline that applies the principles of physics and materials science for the production and maintenance of analysis, design, manufacturing, mechanical and energy systems. And it is also one of the oldest and most extensive engineering disciplines. Mechanical Engineering requires an understanding of basic concepts such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, computer applications, numerical and structural analysis. Mechanical engineers use tools such computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management for manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and other machinery and systems that require design and analysis.
Master of innovative basic science, who can be effectively involved in the practice of the profession, research, participant ,sharing, mechanical engineers with professional ethics training, producing the universal nature of knowledge and technology, can convert the results of research into technology. Besides who internalize the theoretical and practical knowledge at the undergraduate and graduate levels have taken , aware of releated near and future problems in surrounding environment , analyze and provide solutions these problems, and able to report them academically, who has in-depth knowledge the selected area of the certificated engineers.
Become a leading educational and research institutions which has world-class researchers and inquisitive providing education, science and technology.
It is essential for the candidates of PhD program:
• To hold an undergraduate diploma.
• To have a grade of at least 55 in ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam), 450 in GMAT, which is an internationally accredited exam or 610 in the “quantitative” part of GRE exam.
• To meet the requirements determined by the head of department and to have taken the language proficiency exam given by the Institute, unless the candidate has a certificate of KPDS/UDS or any other exam accredited by YOK (Turkish Higher Education Institution).
• Exchange student applications are to be done in accordance with the admission requirements of the agreement signed between DuzceUniversity and the partner university.
• Visiting students can take the courses approved by the head of the related department.
Mechanical Engineering PhD program aims to educate scientists aware of their professional responsibility and train engineers who have creative and critical thinking abilities, ethical values, attentive, can efficient use of materials and energy, sensitive to social events take individual responsibility, respecting human rights, capable of independent research and also have capability for determine the necessary steps to achieve a new synthesis.
For each course, the method of assessment and grading is defined "Course Information Form" in details. Click for more information about regulations.
In order to graduate from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Institute of Graduated School of Natural and Applied Science with Degree of PhD, the students need to have 21 national credits courses on the condition of 3 credits of them compulsory lesson. Likewise the students need to have 60 ECTS(European credit transfer system) courses on the condition of the 12 ECTS of them compulsory lesson. After these courses completed successfully, the courses of “ Master Thesis Study and Lecture on Specialized Field” must be chosen in all semesters until the total number of courses will be 120 ECTS. Students must be graded CB and above in order to be approved successfully in the courses they have. Besides students must have a national or international publication (poster, oral session or paper) in order to attend the thesis defense examination.
