The Department of Basic
Islamic Sciences provides master opportunity to individuals who aim to have
basic knowledge in the field and to achieve high efficiency and quality
awareness that can improve themselves and society. In the program, courses for
master's thesis work are given and the
students who successfully complete the program are awarded with the Diploma of
Basic Islamic Sciences (Master of Thesis).
The main goal of the
program is to educate experts in the field of Basic Islamic Sciences. The program
will help the development of academic mentality at the graduate level due to science departments it
contains, increase the number of trained personnel and produce and share
healthy religious knowledge with the society. To examine Islamic religion based
on correct and scientific basis and to understand and interpret the most important
sources of the religion; Qur’an, the Hadiths and the religious texts are also
amongst the other aims of the program.
To gain the ability to read and understand the basic Islamic sources, to evaluate the informations in these sources correctly and soundly, to systematically express the obtained information in written and verbal style and to use them in line with current needs.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are
awarded with the “Basic İslamic Sciences Master of Thesis” degree.
• Having a bachelor's degree
• To be graduated from Faculty of Theology or Islamic
Sciences
• Having at least 55 points from ALES (Academic
Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam)
• To have at least 2 or equivalent points out of 4 out
of the undergraduate graduation GPA.
• To get a passing grade (60) from the science and oral
exams to be held by Duzce University Institute of Social Sciences.
• Applications for exchange students are made
according to the admission conditions set out in the bilateral agreement signed
by Düzce University and the partner university.
• Special students can register to the courses
given in this program with the approval.
• The program has a total
of 42 courses including 1 compulsory, 1 seminar and 35 optionals 3 including
Master Thesis and Specialized Field Courses. In order to graduate from the
program, students are required to register for at least 7 courses and Seminars
and Master Thesis and complete 120 ECTS credits.
• Students
are required to have at least 3.00 GPA out of 4.00 and to be successful in
Seminar course and Master Thesis Defense.
Students studying at Düzce University may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. If the content of the course taken in another institution is appropriate for the course given in the DU and approved by the relevant faculty / institute / school board, the student may be exempt from this course.
The program is to provide the student with the ability to conduct independent research, to interpret the scientific events with a broad, deep and rational point of view and to determine the necessary steps to reach new syntheses.
Graduates will also can discuss their scientific research in written and oral form in national and international media and publications.

Graduates can be appointed as faculty members in the relevant departments of the faculties of theology, and it is possible to obtain seniority positions in other institutions.
Those who complete their education can continue their education in doctoral programs in related fields.

Students who submit their master's thesis to the institute as determined by the institute are awarded a Master's diploma provided that they complete the required course credits and succeed in the defense of the thesis and provide other conditions.
