The Department of Radio, Cinema and Television, founded in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, began accepting students in the academic year 2018-2019. The Department of Radio, Cinema and Television aims to train in both theoretical and practical fields at international standards. Because of this, the efficiency-oriented work program has a renewable, updatable flexibility.

Radio, Cinema and Television Department aims to bring out creative individuals who have theoretical and technical knowledge in the field of cinema, who can use technology and aesthetics together and who can be productive in positions such as media analyst, script writer, cameraman, editor and director.

[] Objectives

In the Radio, Television and Cinema Department, where graduates with artistic and technical equipment are able to work in all areas that may be required by the cinema and television industry, it is aimed to raise names that can perform works that will receive national and international awards, and draw attention with their artistic talents and the quality of their projects. In the department, where young generations that follow and adapt to the developing technology in the cinema and television industry are trained, the training of young talents, which will successfully represent the country in national and international platforms, is among the goals of the department.

This programme is an undergraduate education.

[] Admission Requirements

The admission of students to the programmes is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores they got from the exam.


Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).


The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.

[] Course's Contrubution To Program

In order to complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.50 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.

[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

2 Students will be able to discuss the reflections of this information in the fields of application by dominating both basic and new theoretical orientations and concepts in cinema and television fields.
3 Students will be able to comprehends the historical processes of cinema, television, media and communication fields and compares them with today's sectoral trends.
4 Students will be able to have knowledge about the structure and working principle of the technical materials used in the field, follow the current material developed in line with the new orientations and apply this knowledge by reflecting on their own studies.
5 Students will be able to work in the field of cinema and television, they develop appropriate solutions by calculating possible problems.
6 Students will be able to combine the theoretical knowledge related by the cinema and television sectors with the practical methods.
7 Students will be able to develop collaborative work by linking cinema and television fields with other arranged disciplines.
8 Students will be able to questioning the innovations they pursue, they discover their own directions of cinema and television.
9 Students will be able to provide the opportunity to use and share knowledge, skills effectively by participating in national and international film screenings, festivals, contests and similar organizations.
10 Students will be able to recognize the ethical values in cinema and television fields and applies them in the working environment.
11 Students will be able to organize that bring together individuals working in the field of cinema and television organizations and arrange an environment of reflection and discussion.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates

Students who graduated from the department, program producer, program director, cameraman, editor, broadcast director, presenter, photographer and script writer in radio-television institutions; can work as a filmmaker, film director, director of photography, screenwriter, cameraman in film industry.

Radio, Television and Cinema Undergraduate Program required courses total local credit: 138, Total ECTS: 182, Elective courses total local credit: 30, Total ECTS: 58

Minimum local credit required for graduation: 168, Total ECTS: 240

* The program includes the Common Compulsory Courses in the Higher Education Law and other common courses determined by the English and University Senate.

* Students do not have to do internship in order to graduate from the program.

Students who receive 240 ECTS by completing compulsory and elective courses in the 4 year (8 semesters) undergraduate Program of Radio Television and Cinema Department are considered to be graduates.
