The aim of the Department of Economics is to provide students with the ability to understand, interpret, analyze and examine the economic events and phenomena that occur by giving them information about economic theories. At the end of economics education, it is learned how to use resources, how to produce goods and services, how to determine prices, how to distribute income and how to achieve economic growth.
Economics education includes two basic processes. The first is the teaching of economic principles and tools to be used in life after university. In this context, it is ensured that the qualified labor force needed by the economic units in the face of rapidly changing global developments is trained. The second is to develop the ability to think independently and systematically, which can always be useful in human life, and to provide students with scientific discipline economically.
While the science of economics deals with the preferences of individuals and firms in society in the sub-branch of microeconomics, it examines the countries and the global economy holistically in the sub-branch of macroeconomics. Taking into account the fact that the resources in the world are limited, it conducts these examinations with the help of theoretical mathematical models and data-based methods. Economics examines issues such as development, economic growth, income distribution, inflation, unemployment, poverty, inequalities, welfare of individuals and societies, education-health-environment policies, financial markets and institutions, global trade, monetary and fiscal policies. Therefore, during the economics education, the student has the opportunity to understand current issues and make scientific predictions about the future by reconciling theoretical and mathematical models with historical perspective.
In addition to the courses that students must take during their economics education, there are also interdisciplinary elective courses. In this way, our students have the opportunity to receive integrated education with other disciplines through different elective courses. For example, in addition to traditional economic systems, there is an opportunity to learn and discuss alternative economic systems such as Islamic economics. In addition, Düzce University Department of Economics students have the opportunity to study for one or two semesters within the scope of the Erasmus program at the universities it has contracted in Europe. In this process, students can contribute to their academic careers by participating in the exchange of information and culture in an international perspective.
